Reading the 60-page pack in five minutes
And how to check it didn't make things up.
The most useful thing for most people: long documents
Board packs, contracts, reports. AI assistants can read a long document and tell you what matters, what's missing and what to ask. This is where many people first see the point.
Try asking: "Summarise this in five bullet points. Then list three questions I should ask the author."
If it won't take the whole file, try a section at a time.
How to check it
AI can state things confidently that aren't in the document. Two habits fix most of it:
Ask it to give the page or section for each point.
Open three of those pages yourself. If they match, you can trust the rest more. If one doesn't, don't rely on the summary.
What to be careful with
Before you paste in anything private, such as client files or board papers, check two things: whether your organisation has a policy, and what the tool does with what you paste. The answer depends on the product and the plan you're on. Look in the privacy or data settings. If you can't tell, don't paste it. Ask me and I'll help you check.
Worth ignoring?
Claim: "It's 100% accurate."
Ask: Accurate at what, measured how, by whom? No tool is right every time. Your spot-check is the safeguard.
What's the longest thing you read each week?
